Recap
When we played at Glossop in March, we were all in lockdown a week later. Fast forward to October & here we go again – all aboard the Toilet Roll & Pasta Express…..
A much more pleasing performance but not a pleasing result. The Azzurri saw 2 new additions in the line up – as our treatment room is still quite popular! – with Zac Hartley joining us from Shrewsbury & coming into the starting 11 & Gianluca Bucci joining us from Gainsborough & taking a place on the bench.
All Frickley in the first half – Margs had a great 1 on 1 chance early on but put his shot inches past the upright – & we deservedly took the lead on 28 minutes when Margs was scythed down in the box. He jumped up & stroked the ball home from the penalty spot. Margs also hit one narrowly wide from distance 10 minutes later. 1 nil to us at half time.
Glossop came out of the blocks in the 2nd half, as we all knew they would, & scored on 56 & 61 minutes with probably their first 2 attacks of the game. The boys did their best to get back on terms – Nyle-nel fired one over, a Margs free kick was tipped just round the post & then a Margs effort hit the post, rolled along the goal line & was cleared. There are some games when you know you’re not destined to get anything….
A much better display to this pair of eyes than of late (I missed the Wisbech game) & that is to be applauded but we need to get some wins on the board. A couple of scruffy 1 nillers will do wonders for this team.
I have to add Jacob Graham was outstanding for Glossop – he frustrated & broke up every Frickley attack & was instrumental in setting every Glossop attack in motion. They really should give him an official team kit instead of making him play in all black.
WEBMASTER MOTM – it was the Young Guns that took the eye again. Fin Shrimpton looked good in midfield & Bucci looked a decent baller when he came on. But the player that really stood out for me was Zac Hartley, looked really composed on the ball.
TWITTER POLL MOTM – Fin took the Twitter poll, ahead of Margs with Zac also polling. Thank you to everyone who voted.
176 through the gate with about a third of those being Frickley fans, a superb turn out once again.
We go again on Saturday – we are at home to Market Drayton for a league fixture. Come on everyone, let’s get to the Wezzie & get that home win sorted
