Recap

This is a great song – unfortunately we didn’t quite have sufficient firepower to see off a resilient Belper yesterday afternoon.

I’d forgotten what is was like to lose at home (12th October last time it happened) & I don’t care for it

Take it away Ken….

Belper took their chances to take the points at Westfield Lane.
Belper made the perfect start when Alex Peterson’s header bounced up awkwardly into the top corner of the Frickley net in the 3rd minute.
But the home side were level 8 minutes later when Tyler Williams crossed for Jacob Hazel to flick home with the outside of his boot from 12 yards out.
Hazel went close again in the 25th minute but Danny South cleared off the line for Belper.
Brad Wells repeated the trick clearing the Frickley decks at the other end 8 minutes before half time to keep it level.
Just 3 minutes after the break, Craig Nelthorpe saw red for a second bookable offence. The Blues put the 10 men of Belper under immediate pressure with a good headed chance for Todd Jordan coming from the resulting free kick.
However, Belper hit the hosts on the break with sub Cameron Clark applying the final touch to put the ball past Tom Jackson to take the lead for a second time.
Paul Sherburn and Hazel linked up to get the ball into the box but Wells headed wide. Then there was an enforced 25 minute break due to floodlight failure.
Underway again, Frickley laid siege to the Belper goal but nothing would go in.

WEBMASTER MOTM – it felt like everyone gave us at least a 7.5/10 so I’ll cut to the chase & I’m giving the Glitterball to Jake Currie,he gets better with every game. A big shout out to Liam King too – did the full 90 minutes after a long lay off

TWITTER POLL MOTM – Haze takes it (his goal yesterday was his 114th for the club), with Tyler just behind him. Holli & Cuz were close behind the front 2. Thank you to everyone who voted. Please keep voting

280 through the gate, excellent numbers – let’s not make this a one off, these are the numbers we should be getting every home game with the performances that this team is putting in. Thank you for your support

Next up we are away to Newcastle Town next Saturday – if you want to travel on the Supporters Coach, contact John Longbottom sharpish (01977 647242)
