Recap

The mighty Paul Heaton once chirped:

Too many hands in too many pockets
Not enough hands on hearts
Too many ready to call it a day
Before the day starts

We went 1 up on 11 minutes from a Big Dev header (with a bit of OG about it) then Lincoln went straight down the other end to equalise from a very dubious penner & then our collective arses fell out of our collective trousers

Here is what Garforths most celebrated wild garlic chef thought about it:

A Matthew Cotton treble carried Lincoln to their first win in ten games and improved their chances of avoiding the drop whilst doing the opposite for Frickley.Lincoln had an early chance but Frickley keeper stopped Matthew Cotton’s flash at goal with his legs. But the home side drew first blood when Dev Morton forced home a corner in the 11th minute. However, Lincoln were level less than two minutes later when the ref awarded a penalty for handball. Matthew Cotton duly obliged from the spot. After that flurry of excitement, the next half a hour was the cagey affair you’d expect from two teams scrapping at the wrong end of the table. it took until the 43rd minute before the genuine opportunity as a Lincoln defender headed Brad Wells’s lob off the line. After the break, Max Baker had an early gilt-edged opportunity when the ball fell to him 6 yards out but Smith made a stunning reflex save. Baker made amends in the 59th minute when his speculative shot from the edge of the box, after a long ball over the top, crept into the corner of the net.Cotton extended Lincoln’s lead when he fired into the top corner from 20 yards on 65 minutes. And Cotton completed his hat trick and finished the game as a contest in the 77th minute with a low drive from 8 yards out.

Back to me – at this stage of the season, in the position we’re in, we need to be adopting a siege mentality but too many times it’s more like a vicars tea party. We need men. leaders, talkers, shouters, battlers….

3 more wars – any more performances like yesterday & we’re getting the NCEL map book out

Here’s what the Gaffer had to say

209 through the gate which is very decent considering the positions of the 2 teams – thank you to everyone who came along

Next up we are away to Tadcaster next Saturday – we will be running a supporters coach to the game & it will leave North Elmsall at 1pm, £5 per seat. To book your places call / text Ian on 07790 569075. The absolute minimum we can do to show thanks to Ian is to fill the coach – come on Azzurri let’s get to Taddy in numbers
