Recap

Firstly, a massive thanks to all the players – they put a right shift in yesterday in horrendous conditions on a horrendous pitch (which got an assist for the first goal when a fairly innocuous free kick reared up & over Jordan Pierrepoint) JP was making his 2nd debut on his return to the club on loan from Basford until the end of the season.

You would have been hard pushed to know which team was top of the table & which team was at the bottom in the first half & the Azzurri had the home defence on a string & could / should have taken the lead on numerous occasions with Nyle, Josh Scott & Jimmy Matthews all having chances to score.

Liversedge made a better fist of things in the 2nd half & we were less of an attacking threat but the home team were still only able to add a 2nd right at the death when we were fully committed to all out attack

So what can we take from the game? Well, we’ve got a group of honest hard working professionals who are busting their nuts to get a win for the club – no-one is coasting or pinching a living – & that’s a good base to work from

WEBMASTER MOTM – plenty to choose from despite the result. Wellsy is back to his best but couldn’t get a break yesterday & was well supported by Josh Scott & Jimmy Matthews. Jordan in goal dealt with crosses in the swirling wind very well & was a sweeper keeper on several occasions. Holli was quality once again. But the real stars were the defensive unit who restricted the free scoring home team to wayward pot shots – Tyreece had his best game so far, Bobby Faulkner was the best player on the pitch but I’m giving the Glitterball to Arun Jones. He came on as a first half sub at left back & completely closed down the play on that side of the field

TWITTER POLL MOTM – thanks to everyone who voted. The Bobby Faulkner Fan Club were out in force & he won the vote fairly comfortably – rightly so.- with Tyreece, Holli & Arun all grouped together behind him

Here is what Sax thought about things

Non footballing highlight of the day was meeting club legend (& my Meadowhall shopping buddy!) Strats – he still looks like he could put a shift in defending!

It was good to have a bunch of Cleethorpes fans backing the boys too – their game at Brighouse was called off so they came to watch us instead

Quick turnaround & we get a chance to put things right on Tuesday when we host Stocksbridge at the Everbuild Wezzie – please come & support us
