A rather subdued match report from last night’s game with the news of a serious injury to our very talented defender Danny Selwood – we have woke up to the news that Danny has broken his fibula and needs an operation later today to have a rod inserted in to his right leg.

Danny has been ever present this year, he was our 1st U23s Player Of The Month in October, he has outstanding all this season performing at a consistent high level every game and he is going to be greatly missed.

Not only is Danny a talented footballer but he is a really top lad – a credit to Frickley U23’s with how he conducts himself both on and off the field. We all are in shock for him and his family and just hope he can make a speedy recovery, then hopefully he will be back on the sidelines cheering on the lads.

Goal scorers last night were Josh Haigh after a great cross from Charlie Clegg, Jordan Kershaw won a penalty and coolly finished it himself, Charlie Clegg scored the goal of the game after magic work from Wade Ripley. Charlie Clegg got the 4th with a bullet header from Taine Clement corner & Ben Ellison-Tope’s corner went down as an own goal as the keeper fumbled it into his own net.

Charlie Clegg fully deserved his man of the match award scoring 2 and assisting 1.

All the lads struggled to celebrate another good win as their thoughts were with their injured team mate Danny Selwood. We have now played 9, won 8, drawn 1

Best wishes and speedy recovery Danny from everyone at Frickley Athletic FC – you can contribute to his fundraising page here
