Tadcaster i2i City 0 Frickley U23s 4
Frickley U23s signed off for 2022 with another stunning win against Taddy Albion i2i City who also were unbeaten going into yesterday’s fixture, to make it 6 wins out of 6.
On a bitterly cold evening Frickley were fast out of the blocks when Brandon Fearn skillfully beat 2 opponents on the left bye line to square the ball to Wade Ripley who rifled home from close range.
On the half hour mark, after several near misses The Young Azzurri further increased their lead when defender Callum Beaumont brought the ball forward over the half line to provide a defence splitting through ball to Robbie Wood on the right, he superbly found the waiting Wade Ripley who was never going to miss given that much space in the box.
The Young Blues had settled now and started to play their usual fast flowing passing football and it took 2 absolute worldie saves from the home keeper before half time to prevent the game being over in the opening 45 minutes. First, Wade Ripley fired a wonderful volley towards the top corner and then Lee Jordan lept like a salmon to head the ball Shearer-like from another Robbie Wood cross, but somehow both efforts were superbly tipped over the top.
Ten minutes into the second half, The Talented Mr (Wade) Ripley complete his hat trick when he skipped past 2 defenders to fire into the net from an acute angle,
Frickley then introduced defender Brandon Murillo who was returning from a leg break early on in the season, which was great to see.
Frickley then deservedly got their 4th goal when the in-form Robbie Wood ran on to a through ball to confidently smash an unstoppable right foot shot past the keeper.
It might not have been the Young Blues’ best performance of the season but they showed enough quality at the right moments to score 4 good goals, and Harry Ambler in goal dealt with any long range efforts that came his way to record another impressive clean sheet.
The Bob Smith motm was awarded to Brandon Fearn who was outstanding in his return to Frickley’s midfield after a game and a half games in the goal himself, what a versatile player he is!
The Young Azzurri now have a break and will be looking to continue their good form when they return in the New Year!
