Anyone who knows the track ‘Oh Happy Day‘ will know that the Edwin Hawkin Singers are 100% Azzurri fans….

So my good people – you want news? I’ve got news!!

We are all going through a period of massive uncertainty (such that most of us have never experienced before) & what we need is some stability. With that in mind we are delighted to announce that the Gaffer has signed on to manage the club for another 2 seasons, until the end of season 2022/23!!

Also remaining as part of Frecks management team are Sax, Kyle, Damo & Jordan.

As to when we kick a ball again – that’s anyones guess – but you can all enjoy your red wine tonight in the knowledge that our great football club is in the best hands.

This is what the Gaffer had to say:

Over the last 18 months I’ve built up a fantastic relationship with The Chairman, Phil, Penny & Ruth, the volunteers, our award winning media team and our phenomenal supporters.

Although this pandemic has put a halt to football on the pitch it’s not stopped us working on our plans off it.

Regular Zoom meetings and weekly, if not daily, conversations regarding how we want to go about our business has made the decision an easy one, and it’s a real privilege to be extending my commitment to the football club for another 2.5 years.

The football club has a fantastic tradition, a loyal fan base and treats every player and member of staff like one of their own.

The progress that’s been made on and off the pitch over the last 18 months has been staggering, especially considering the challenges that we’ve faced!!!

I’m also delighted to announce that Kyle O’Reilly, Damon Parkinson and Gavin Saxby have also committed alongside our outstanding Physio/Sports Therapist Jordan Parkin.

Finally I want to thank the players, not only from this season but also last. They’ve been outstanding and a real credit to themselves and their families.

Football is all about the players, without them the game doesn’t exist.

Frecks”

This is what Stuart, The Chairman, had to say:

During these more than difficult times we at Frickley Athletic Football Club have been working to put structures in place for when we return to something like normal.

Being a community /family based club that is progressive and ambitious we strive for stability and success.

It helps on the football pitch when the side is successful but to achieve that you need leadership, enthusiasm, passion and dedication.

We have all of that with Dave as he has already shown, so we are delighted that he will be leading that part of the journey over the next two seasons and hopefully longer”

From a personal perspective we in the Media Team get to talk to the Gaffer a lot – he’s always available for post match stuff (win, lose or draw) & he tells it like it is. He’s proper old school & proper Frickley

So it might be baltic outside & we’ve not kicked a ball for months – but just warm your cockles knowing that Frecks, Sax, KOR, Damo & JP are in the house!!!

& with this fantastic news I declare Red Wine Club OPEN!!!
