It’s a new month and October starts with another away trip as we make the relatively short journey to Handsworth in the NCEL, kick off is at 7:45pm
Blues News
September was a difficult month for the Blues with only one win in all competitions throughout the month, culminating in a first away league defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Eccleshill.
It had started so brightly for the Blues when Joel Spence scored the opener after only 3 minutes. However, the home side came back to take the lead before half time and the Blues were unable to find another goal in a lacklustre second half.
The defeat sees the Blues drop to 13th in the NCEL table without a win in the last 5 games in all competitions so will desperately be looking for a positive result to turn the tide on Wednesday night.

Our Opponents
Our next fixture sees us make the relatively short journey down to Handsworth. Handsworth have had a more positive start to the season than the Blues, currently sitting 8th in the NCEL table having played a game fewer than the Blues.
They boast a dangerous looking squad with plenty of quality and experience that also includes a fair contingent of former Blues including full back Tyler Williams, midfielder Jonathan Williams and striker Ollie Fearon who signed from Hallam in the summer along with another experienced striker in Scott Ruthven.
They will come into the game full of confidence after a very impressive away 3-2 victory over Rossington at the weekend with Fearon picking up a hattrick in the match. However, they have lost their last two home matches against Silsden and Eccleshill so there’s potential for the Blues to get a positive result
Form (Last 5) – WLWLW
League Standing – P10, W5, D1, L4, Pts 16, Pos 8th
Previous Meetings
The Blues and the Ambers have a habit of playing out draws in recent meetings with both fixtures last season finishing 1-1. Handsworth were the last side to record a victory in the fixture with a 1-0 win at Westfield Lane back in October 2022
