Match Preview - Tuesday 9th September 2025

We’re flying through the fixtures at the moment and we go again at Westfield Lane on Tuesday night as we welcome Knaresborough Town in the NCEL Premier Division, kick off at 7:45pm

Blues News

The Blues extended their unbeaten run to 3 matches on Saturday in a bizarre game that ended with a 2-2 draw away at Parkgate.

Bizarre as normally, when you come back from 2-0 down to take a point, you’re pretty happy with your days work. However, the Blues were so dominant for so long in the match that it still felt like 2 points lost rather than a point gained.

However, it was another strong performance from the lads as we look to continue building into the new season. There are certainly still things to work on but the progress is clear and hopefully that can continue into the next game.

The point saw Frickley climb to 8th in the NCEL table on 11 points from the opening 8 games and confidence continues to grow within the group as we head into another tough week of fixtures

Form (Last 5) – LLWDD

League Standing – P8, W3, D2, L3, Pts 11, Pos 8th

Our Opponents

Our visitors to Westfield Lane on this occasion are Knaresborough Town. The game should have been played back in August but was rearranged with Knaresborough instead playing an FA Cup replay.

They too have enjoyed a positive start to the campaign, sitting one place above the Blues in 7th in the table whilst also being on 11 points, though having played a game fewer than the Blues.

They have also faced very similar opposition to Frickley, with their last 3 games seeing defeats to Tadcaster and Liversedge sandwich a victory over Penistone Church. The most recent was the 3-1 defeat to Liversedge on Saturday.

Form (Last 5) – DDLWL

League Standing – P7, W3, D2, L2, Pts 11, Pos 7th

Previous Meetings

Last season, the two sides each took home a win each in the respective home fixtures. The Blues running out 3-1 winners at Westfield Lane before Knaresborough picked up a 3-0 win at Manse Lane later in the season.

It is a fixture that the home side has dominated, with Knaresborough yet to win at Westfield Lane and likewise Frickley yet to win at Manse Lane. So hopefully that record continues this time and the Blues can pick up the victory
