After 6 weeks away, the Blues are finally back on home soil as we welcome Barton Town to Westfield Lane for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 7:45pm
Blues News
It’s now 5 straight defeats for the Blues following a 4-0 defeat to leaders Silsden at the weekend. It was another performance in keeping with recent weeks, one of missed chances and a top side punishing each of our defensive errors.
The result saw the Blues slip further towards the danger zone, now sitting 18th in the NCEL Premier table and still on 25 points.
On paper, it looks like a rotten run of form out of context. However, when you step back and look, the last 4 defeats have all come away from home against teams in and around the promotion picture and ultimately, given where we find ourselves in the table, these results won’t define our season.
As we head into February, we face a run of home games against teams further down the table where the potential for points is high. So there will be opportunities to put the recent negative performances behind us and to try and start heading in the right direction in the table again.
Form (Last 5) – LLLLL
League Standing – P27, W7, D4, L16, Pts 25, Pos 18th
Our Opponents
Barton Town were supposed to be our first home match of 2025 and, after postponements and rearrangements, they are still the first visitors to Westfield Lane of 2025
Since that postponement, the Swans have picked up 1 win and 1 loss in their subsequent 2 matches as they were unable to follow up and impressive 3-2 win over high flying Golcar United by losing 2-1 to Knaresborough Town at the weekend.
The result leaves Barton in 13th in the NCEL table on 33 points and they will be looking to pick up another 3 points tomorrow night to try and climb the league so it should be a fiery encounter with both sides hunting for the win
Form (Last 5) – LDWWL
League Standing – P23, W8, D9, L6, Pts 33, Pos 13th
Previous Meeting
The two sides met at the Easy Buy Stadium back at the start of December and played out a very entertaining 1-1 draw.
It was a game of two halfs as the Blues dominated the First and took a deserved lead through a Rob Guilfoyle strike. But the Swans were much stronger second half and levelled it up through Elliot Broughton to see the points shared between the two sides.
Match Information
So wrap up warm and get down to the Wezzie to back the boys for our first home game of 2025. Admission prices are the usual:
Adults – £7.00
Concessions – £5.00

As with the previously planned fixture, we will be holding a bucket collection in support of One Punch Hull to raise money in memory of former Frickley and Barton goalkeeper James Hitchcock who tragically passed away just before Christmas.
Any outstanding shop orders for bobble hats will also be available for collection with plenty more to purchase on the night.
It’s a massive game at a crucial point in the season so get down to the Wezzie and get behind the lads as we look to put the season back on track. Hope to see you all there!!
