Match Preview – Tuesday 27th January 2026

The Blues are back in action as we try for the second time to play our NCEL League Cup quarter final against league leaders Liversedge at the Wezzie, kick off is at 7:45pm

However, with torrential rain forecast for most of tomorrow, keep your eye on our social media pages as we could be faced with another postponement.

The Blues finally played their first football of 2026 on Saturday though it sadly ended in a 4-0 defeat against a very strong and inform Campion side. However, it wasn’t a 4-0 game and the Blues were well in the contest for 70 minutes so it’s not all doom and gloom like the scoreline may suggest

The previous round of the league cup took place in November where Frickley picked up a 2-0 win at home to Golcar United, courtesy of a Josh Lindley double. That followed the ridiculous 7-6 win over Bottesford Town in the previous round.

It will be a tough ask tomorrow though when league leaders Liversedge are in town. Sedge are comfortably clear at the top of the NCEL table but did see their impressive unbeaten run come to an end at the weekend after a 1-0 defeat away at Thackley. They will be looking to bounce back against the Blues.

Frickley do remain one of the few sides though to take points off Sedge, thanks to a 0-0 draw at the Wezzie back in September. The reverse league fixture is another one of those that has fallen foul to the recent weather.

So look to the skies and pray for dry weather and we may see some football. Admission prices are below:
