Match Preview – Saturday 1st November 2025
The Blues are back in action at Westfield Lane as we welcome Rossington Main for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm
Frickley come into this one on the back two consecutive victories and two consecutive clean sheets as the 2-0 win against Wombwell last week was followed by a 3-0 win over Jubilee Sports in the SHCFA Senior Cup on Wednesday night
A lovely solo goal from Tom Alngohuro in the first half was followed by two snark strikes from Destiny Nnenanya in the second half to secure the Blues a comfortable victory.
The win against Wombwell last week was a massive one as it saw the Blues climb to 15th in the NCEL table and open up a 4 point gap to the relegation zone whereas defeat would have left us in that relegation zone so it was a much needed 3 points to get things back on track.
Our opponents Rossington are another side languishing at the wrong end of the NCEL table, coming into the weekend in 17th place though with a couple of games in hand on the surrounding teams after some decent cup runs.
They have started to find some form in recent weeks, winning 3 of their last 4 games in all competitions with the defeat being a narrow 4-3 loss to league leaders Liversedge. Their last outing was a 2-1 win over bottom side Horbury Town in another game last weekend that was massive at the bottom of the table.
The Blues have a decent record against Rosso, going unbeaten in the two games that were played last season. A 1-1 draw away towards the start of the campaign was followed up by a 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture last December. So hopefully a repeat of that form tomorrow and another 3 points to keep climbing the table.
