The Blues are back at Westfield Lane for the final home game of preseason as we welcome NPL East side Emley, kick off is at 7:30pm

It was a preseason double header for the Blues over the weekend, as a 4-1 defeat to a Sheffield Wednesday XI on Friday was followed by a 3-2 defeat to Grimsby Borough on Saturday.

However, scoreline mean nothing during preseason and it was clear to see, particularly in the Grimsby game, relationships and patterns of play forming within the Gaffer’s new look Frickley side.

The Blues look to be getting stronger with each game at the moment and are yet to field a strongest 11 in a match with a number of players missing one or both of last weekends games. So there are plenty of positives from what’s going on at the moment.

The lads looked good from a fitness perspective as well given that many played well over a game and a half of football over the 2 days and still looked pretty fresh. All good signs as we head towards the season opener against Albion Sports on 26th July.

Our Opponents

The tests don’t get any easier for the Blues either with higher league opposition again on the menu at the Wezzie with NPL East side Emley AFC the latest visitors.

Emley were involved at the sharp end of the NPL East table last season after winning the NCEL the season prior, losing in the play off semi finals to Dunston after finishing 5th during the regular season.

They have recruited strongly over the summer with plenty of fresh and exciting faces in their squad, so you can guarantee they’ll be looking to go a step further this campaign. So it will pose another very tough test for the Blues as preparations for the new season continue.
