Another weekend, another away day for the Blues as we head to Parkgate for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

After a strong 2-0 victory over Penistone Church last weekend, the Blues backed that up with another solid 0-0 draw against Liversedge in midweek.

That’s 4 points from 2 very tough matches against sides you would expect to be up at the business end come April which bodes well as this new look Frickley side continues to develop.

It’s also the first time since October 2023 that we’ve recorded clean sheets in successive league matches so the defensive unit is certainly heading in the right direction.

The result sees the Blues sit 9th in the NCEL table, getting into double figures for the season on 10 points. And confidence will be growing in the group after the last couple of performances so hopefully we can get another 3 points tomorrow.

Our Opponents

Our hosts for this weekend’s fixture are Parkgate. The Steelmen have also enjoyed a positive start to the new season after a tumultuous summer that saw the majority of last season’s squad depart.

They have rebuilt and find themselves in 7th place in the early NCEL table, a point better off than the Blues although having played a game more.

They, like Frickley, were also involved in a 0-0 draw in midweek, this time away at Horbury Town. This was Parkgate’s second successive 0-0 after also drawing with Beverley last weekend.

Previous Meetings

The Steelmen took the honours last season as they did the double over the Blues, starting with edging a 5 goal thriller last November at Green Lane 3-2

They then picked up a 1-0 victory in a tight game at Westfield Lane back in March, a certain Will Jenkinson getting the goal for Parkgate on that day. Wonder what happened to him??
