After a couple of away games, Frickley are back in action at Westfield Lane as we welcome Golcar United in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
Blues News
The Blues winless run continued in dramatic and heartbreaking fashion on Wednesday night as another late goal saw them lose 2-1 away at Handsworth.
The home side had dominated the first half and taken a 1-0 lead into the interval but the Blues thought back and controlled the second half in the search for an equaliser.
It looked like they’d snatched a point late on as debutant Jack Cawthorn headed in a Jack Holden corner in stoppage time. However, another defensive lapse immediately after saw Handsworth retake the lead and see out the game to take the victory in what is becoming a nasty habit that the Blues need to shake off.
It is now 5 defeats in a row for the Blues in all competitions and 6 games without a win since the 5-3 victory over Bottesford at the start of September. The run has seen them fall to 14th in the NCEL table, still on 12 points. However, there is still a long way to go in this season so plenty of time to turn things around

Our Opponents
It’s another tough prospect for the Blues as Golcar United are the latest visitors to Westfield Lane. Golcar currently find themselves 4th in the NCEL table after a very strong start to the new campaign.
However, they have only won 3 of their last 6 league fixtures, all of which have been at home. Their last 3 away fixtures have all been defeats against Albion Sports, Beverley and Silsden so something to give the Blues a little bit of confidence going into Saturday’s encounter.
They do come into this game on the back of a victory, however, following a 1-0 win against Eccleshill in midweek. They also currently boast the same rather strange record as Frickley of having scored in every game so far this season except for an FA Cup defeat against Thackley so let’s see if those runs continue tomorrow.

Previous Meetings
The two sides have only ever met in the encounters over the last two seasons, with each season seeing both the Blues and Golcar pick up one victory each.
Last season saw Frickley pick up a 4-1 win at Westfield Lane before Golcar reversed the result in some style at the Skye Direct Stadium with a resounding 5-0 victory
