Match Preview – Saturday 28th February

The Blues prepare to wrap up February and truly enter the home straight for the season with a 3rd Wezzie fixture of the week, this time welcoming Eccleshill United for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off at 3:00pm

Frickley will once again be looking to bounce back following a disappointing showing in the 2-0 defeat to Parkgate on Tuesday night. The Blues never really got going and struggled to create against a stubborn Parkgate defence who eventually picked off the Blues going forward. An improved performance will be needed tomorrow.

The Blues did remain 13th in the NCEL Premier Division table with midweek results not seeing the Blues fall any positions despite the defeat. However, the gap to the bottom 2 did shrink to 7 points so some more points are needed on the board to make sure of our NCEL Premier Division status for another year

Another side looking over their shoulder in the bottom half is Eccleshill. The Eagles start the weekend in 16th place after a poor run of recent results has seen them slide down the league. Eccleshill have won just once in 9 games since the start of December, losing 4-0 away at Horbury Town last time out.

Strangely, this is actually the first encounter of the season between the two sides with the previous games being postponed until this point. The last meeting was over a year ago in February 2025 when the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at the Wezzie.
