Match Preview – Saturday 25th October 2025

The Blues are back on the road this weekend as we make the relatively short trip to Wombwell Town for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm
After the drama and the excitement of the 7-6 comeback win in the league cup against Bottesford Town, the Blues crashed back to reality hard last weekend, letting 6 goals in but without the goals scored in return with a 6-0 defeat away at Golcar United.
It’s a defeat that sees Frickley drop further down the NCEL Premier Division table, with the Blues now sitting in 17th place on a poor run of form. But there’s still a long way to go in the campaign with manager Martyn Woolford still trying to make his mark on the squad so plenty of opportunity for form to turn around
Our opponents Wombwell Town are one of the few sides still below Frickley in the league table. They come into this one in 18th place, one point worse off than the Blues, having made a slow start to their first season at this level following promotion from the NCEL Division One last season with victory in the playoffs
They also suffered defeat at the hands of Golcar in their last match, losing 3-1 on Tuesday night. They are also on an equally bad run of form in the league, with their last league victory coming at the start of September against Bottesford Town so it’s a massive game for both sides as they look to climb the table
So come on down and get behind the lads as we look to bounce back with a victory. Address to the ground is below:
