It’s back to back home games for the Blues as we welcome Golcar United to Westfield Lane for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

After a run of very strong performances, the Blues were brought back down to Earth with a bang on Tuesday night as Knaresborough Town came away from the Wezzie with a 3-0 win.

It was a game where the Blues looked a shadow of the team that had produced the previous strong performances and where Knaresborough were fully deserving of the victory. A much improved performance and bounce back will be needed tomorrow

The result leaves the Blues in 9th in the NCEL table on 11 points so still in a strong position to continue pushing forward as this 2025/26 NCEL season shakes out. The lads have shown what they’re capable of already this season and if we can find more performances like that, the results will come

Our Opponents

Our latest visitors to Westfield Lane are Golcar United.

The Weavers were one of the standout teams last campaign, finishing 3rd in the 2025/26 season before just falling short in the playoffs.

However, they went through a summer of change with the management team and most of last seasons squad departing the club. This has led to a slow start to the new campaign, as they currently sit 19th in the NCEL table on 5 points

They have looked to turn a corner in the past week though, with a number of last season’s players now returning to the squad. This saw them pick up their first win against Horbury Town last Friday to move above their opponents off the bottom of the table.

They did return to losing ways in midweek though, like the Blues, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Eccleshill United. Regardless, it will surely be another tough test for the Blues tomorrow as Golcar look to try and push forward.

Previous Meetings

During their high flying campaign last season, the Weavers did the double over the Blues courtesy of a 4-2 victory at Westfield Lane last October before a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture last March.

The Blues have been successful in this fixture in the past however, winning previously at Westfield Lane during the 2023/24 season with a 4-1 victory.
