When you think of famous beards you think of:
- ZZ Top
- Frank Beard (the bloke in ZZ Top who didn’t have a beard….)
- Historian Mary Beard
- Rubeus Hagrid
- Brian Blessed
- Abraham Lincoln
Well you can now add Stuart, our Chairman, fantastically fulsome face furniture!!
Stuart has allowed his usually beautifully manicured beard to develop somewhat during lockdown – so much so that it has now got its own postcode.
He is itching (literally & metaphorically) to get rid of it & with that in mind Stuart will have his beard shaved off – before our home game against Market Drayton Town on Saturday 24th October – to raise funds for our neighbours, the world renowned Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.
To give you some context, the last time Stuart was clean shaven was in 1973, when as a mere stripling of a lad he went to watch the FA Cup final between Leeds & Sunderland
See below for more details & please give what you can – we are very lucky to have a world famous band in our community – so come on, let’s show them what they mean to us:
The impact of Lockdown was felt by all of us in different ways and the restrictions continue to mean everything is the new normal and nothing is what it was. None of us could have foreseen some of the consequences of lockdown, Barnard Castle becoming an opticians paradise, a 100 year old Yorkshiremen raising over £30 million pounds and giving it all away and Hipster beards being grown by football club Chairmen.
Frickley Athletic Chairman Stuart Highfield has decided the beard has got to go, and to raise funds for our neighbours the world renowned Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. The band, like many charities has suffered a huge loss of income, as they haven’t been able to put on concerts to raise the funds needed for the band.
Stuart will have his beard shaved off before our home game against Market Drayton Town on Saturday 24th October at the Sika Everbuild Stadium, Westfield Lane, South Elmsall.
The best way to donate is here – it means the band gets more money through gift aid, they get the tax back.
Alternatively go to www.frickleyathletic.co.uk for other ways to donate.
100% of all funds raised will go to the band
