We take a break from league action as we continue our NCEL League Cup campaign in the 3rd Round with a trip to Barton Town, kick off is at 7:45pm
The Blues advanced in the previous round with a 4-2 victory over Goole AFC. A brace from Keegan Townrow sandwiched goals from Lloyd Smith and an Alhassane Keita penalty to guarantee our place in the 3rd round.
Our hosts Barton were winners of the League Cup back in the 2021/22 season. They started this campaign with a victory on penalties over Shirebrook Town. The game was drawn 3-3 after 90 minutes but Barton came out on top 4-2 in the penalty shootout to set up this tie
This will be our 3rd meeting of the season with the 1-1 draw at Westfield Lane being followed less than a month ago by a 4-1 defeat at Barton. Luke Walker had opened the scoring for the Blues but a Tom Waudby hattrick alongside a screamer from his brother Will Waudby proved our undoing. Hopefully a more positive result this time around!!
