Frickley U23s 5 Tadcaster Albion i2i United 0
Frickley U23s gave another stunning five star performance against Taddy i2i United, winning 5-0 and extended their unbeaten start to the season to five games.
They started superbly when Josh Haigh broke clear in the opening few minutes to fire an unstoppable left foot strike into the bottom corner, but somehow they didn’t manage to increase their lead till the opening minutes of the second half. A combination of poor finishing and outstanding goal keeping kept the visitors in the game, Frickley did play some breath taking stuff at times though, creating chance after chance, on a tricky playing surface.
You did feel it was going to take a little bit of magic or something special to beat the visiting keeper and that came from, the in form Josh Haigh who skillfully chipped the keeper from all of 45 yards after a poor clearance.
Half time sub Robbie Wood soon showed how it’s done, when he increased the home side’s advantage by firing home from close range after great work from Wade Ripley, who again was instrumental in all Frickley’s attacking plays.
Ben Ellison-Tope’s hard working performance and positive play resulted in him finding Robbie Wood who was through on goal, he duly obliged with a outstanding finish into the roof of the net.
The host were rampant now, still playing some lovely passing football with joint man of the matches Isaac Jeffreys and Lee Jordan at the heart of everything. Another flowing move down the left saw Lee Jordan clear on goal and he unselfishly squared the ball for Robbie Wood to tap home for his hat trick.
Special mention to stand-in goal keeper Brandon Fearn who has not conceded a goal in 2 1/2 appearances. However, he did have a solid defence in Danny Selwood, Callum Beaumont and Ross Nowodny in front of him last night and they totally dominated throughout.
The visitors to their credit never gave in and fought bravely but they were caught by a side that is full of confidence at the moment, playing some great football and creating a bucket load of chances which is a pleasure to watch at the moment.
