And just like that, we’ve reached our final game of 2023 as we’re on the road again with a visit to Golcar United in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
The Blues got back to winning ways in the league on Boxing Day with a 3-1 win over Goole AFC at Westfield Lane. Richard Patterson’s early opener was cancelled out by a second half equaliser from Reggie Waud. However, two late goals from Lewis Binns and Keegan Townrow secured the win and saw the Blues take all 3 points.
That victory leaves us 9th in the NCEL table on 33 points, which is only 3 points away from our total in the entire of last season so, despite the recent blip in form, it’s clear to see the improvements that have been made this season so far and that we hope will continue as we head into 2024!!
Our final game of 2023 sees us visit Golcar United. They currently sit 14th in the table on 28 points though have picked up some large impressive victories in recent games over the likes of Hallam and Albion Sports. Their Boxing Day result was a 1-1 draw against high flying Thackley so will pose another tough test for this young Frickley side
It was Frickley who came out on top in the reverse fixture back in September with a 4-1 win at the Wezzie. The hosts took an early lead through Oliver Russon before an almost immediate equaliser from Alex Varley. Eliel Anku then put the Blues infront before a Danny Stocker own goal on the stroke of half time made it 3-1. Al Keita added a further goal late in the second half to rubber stamp the victory
So come along and support the lads one final time in 2023. No supporters bus for this one unfortunately but full commentary will be available through PodBean if you’re unable to make the game, join us at 2:55pm for the coverage
Let’s hope we can end 2023 on a high and carry the momentum into the New Year!!
