We’re back in league action tomorrow as we welcome Tadcaster Albion to Westfield Lane in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
However, with snow on the ground and the cold temperatures forecast to continue, the weather will have a big say in tomorrow’s game. There’s a pitch inspection planned for 11:00am tomorrow so we will update as soon as we can
The Blues come into this one on the back of the disappointing 6-2 defeat away at Campion last time out. However, as the season reaches the half way mark, we’re still in a far better position than this time last season which is testament to all the hard work Pat, Blake and all the lads have put in. We’ll be back to winning ways soon!!
Tadcaster have themselves had a mixed campaign up to this point. A very strong showing in the FA Cup has masked an indifferent league campaign that sees them sit 15th in the NCEL following a 3-1 defeat at home to Barton in midweek. However, recent strong results against Silsden, Knaresborough and Thackley show that this will be far from an easy task for the Blues.
Nor was it an easy task back in August when we recorded our first win of the campaign at Tadcaster with a 4-2 victory. An early Alhassane Keita goal was cancelled out by a Lewis Stephens equaliser in an even first half.
Lloyd Smith was soon able to restore the Blues lead before making it 3-1 just after half time. The home side then pushed Frickley all the way in the second half and grabbed a lifeline as Daniel Thirkell curled in a wonderful free kick as the game entered stoppage time. But, as the hosts pushed for a late equaliser, Frickley broke and Eliel Anku added a 4th to bring all 3 points back to South Elmsall
