It’s time for our first home match of 2024 as we return to league action and welcome Maltby Main to Westfield Lane in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
The Blues bounced back from a disappointing 4-2 defeat away at Garforth last week with a much improved 1-0 victory over Barton Town in the NCEL League Cup in midweek that saw us advance into the quarter finals of the competition. The boys looked far more solid following a large number of goal concessions in recent weeks so hopefully now we can push on to continue what has been a strong season so far.
Maltby will provide a tough test for the Blues this weekend. Currently sitting 19th in the league table only above Goole on goal difference, they have recently seen the return of former management duo Andy Dawson and Lee Whitehead along with a wave of new signings into the club so will be looking to ride the new manager bounce. They pushed league leaders Campion very close last time out, only losing 2-1 after Campion came from behind
Frickley were victorious in the reverse fixture back in September as two quick fire second half goals from Richard Collier and Keanan Mannings saw the Blues claim a fairly comfortable 2-0 victory on a cold autumn night at Muglet Lane.
