Our 2023/24 NCEL season comes to a conclusion as we face Eccleshill United, kick off is at 3:00pm
Originally a match that should have seen us make the trip to Bradford to end the season, following discussions with Eccleshill this week, the fixture has been reversed and we’ll have one final game from Westfield Lane, though the game will count as Eccleshill’s home fixture.
The Blues will look to end the season strongly and build upon last week’s 4-2 victory against Bottesford Town which was our first league victory in 13 games. A brace from Lloyd Smith sandwiched quality individual goals from Zav Elkin and Rieves Boocock to give the lads a well deserved 3 points.
The victory sees Frickley remain in 14th in the league table on 42 points with 1 game remaining. A highest place of 13th is still available with a win tomorrow and depending on the results of other teams.
Eccleshill are one of those teams that could still leapfrog Frickley should they win their remaining 3 matches. They come into tomorrow in 15th place on 35 points so will need a victory tomorrow to usurp the Blues. They are yet to play in April however due to postponements, their last fixture being a 1-0 victory away at Maltby Main.
It was a close game between the two sides in our previous meeting at Westfield Lane with Frickley edging it 2-1 back in September. Lamin Janneh had put the visitors in front at the start of the second half but a late brace from Al Keita was enough to turn the game in Frickley’s favour.
So come along and enjoy one last bonus game at Westfield Lane to close out the season. As mentioned above, this will count as Eccleshill’s home fixture so season tickets won’t be valid and it will be ALL PAY on the gate for Frickley supporters. However, the bar and snack bar will still be operating as normal so all the other normal Frickley hospitality will be in place.
