Our Young Azzurri played their 3rd league match of the season last night & they were back on form BIG TIME, in particular Matty Hughes who was on fire as the whole squad turned up the heat

We travelled to Ilkley Town U-21’s last night & turned in an outstanding team performance on a cold fresh evening. Ilkley Town were fielding a very youthful side & ours was probably one of the youngest we have fielded so a bright future for both sides.

We were straight out of the blocks testing the home keeper on several occasions with fierce shots from Matty Hughes & Brandon Fearn & deservedly took the lead in the opening 10 mins when Jake Lockwood crossed for Thierry Hendrickson to head against the bar & Josh Cummins bundled the rebound home from close range.

Against the run of play Ilkley scored an equaliser as a deep cross eluded everyone and the visiting striker had an easy header at the far post 1-1.

Frickley didn’t stop playing attractive football & soon got back the lead when the returning Mason Kilmartin played in Isaac Jeffreys who squared the ball to Jake Lockwood who side footed home.
We weren’t done & the visiting keeper was performing heroics in making save after save but Josh Cummins got his 2nd goal of the night when he converted Jake Lockwood cross, 1-3 half time.

Second half was very similar to the 1st with the visiting keeper making several great saves but Josh Cummins completed his well deserved hatrick as Matty Hughes broke clear again to cross for him to score at the far post after a clever step over from the talented Harry Alexander. Hghesy finally got on the score sheet when defender Callum Beaumont found Jake Kirkham with a trade mark long pass who played in Jake Lockwood to slip the ball through for Matty to chip the advancing goal keeper, great goal
A defensive mix up allowed Ilkley to score their 2nd goal and credit must go to them as they never game up and battled right to the end on a difficult night.

We weren’t done though & Harry Alexander completed his night when he exchanged passes with Will Handley to race clear and coolly slot the ball under the on rushing keeper, final score 2-6.

Good nights work for the whole team!!
Bob Smith MOTM went to the outstanding Matty Hughes who was closely run by his 13 team mates & very enjoyable to watch!
