Recap
Grantham Town 0 Frickley 1
After Hallam had done it for us, we did it for Grantham – we stepped in at short notice to replace their intended opposition, Burton Albion.
So short that I was marginally further away from the pitch than would be the norm at Grantham’s South Kesteven Sports Stadium, surrounded as it is by a running track. In fact I was in a pub in Leeds at a colleague’s leaving do.
The media team’s Chris shouldered the burden and when he wasn’t getting selfies with Grantham’s boss and ex-Leeds United midfielder, Carlton Palmer (bottom picture), he
did a fine job keeping us updated on Twitter.
He reliably informed us that the Blues put in a dogged and workmanlike performance against the NPL Premier Division opposition. A goalless draw was the most likely looking outcome until 10 minutes from time when Macca slid a pass through to Wellsy who rolled the ball past the keeper for his third consecutive goal in our third consecutive win.
