Recap
As someone once rapped – “aw mom, you’re just jealous it’s The Beastie Boys”….
The Blue Juggernaut got back on the road yesterday & 2 goals in 3 minutes by The Ram Raid Twins saw The Azzurri to a comfortable win in a game they dominated from start to finish. It was a looping bullet header from Wells (K) after a great cross from Tyler that opened the account – The Prince of Darkness told us about the science of the goal afterwards, he’s a scholar of the game & not just a Brute In Boots – & then a Wells (B) solo effort that secured the points.
Over to Ken:
A pair of second half goals by the Wells brothers was enough to see Frickley past Tadcaster on a warm afternoon.
The opening half was a very cagey affair with opportunities at a premium. The best of it coming just before half time when Frickley’s Joe Stacey whipped in a low cross that just evaded the onrushing Brad Wells. Then moments later Stacey fired goalwards himself but Taddy keeper Harrison Davison-Hale fielded it well.
The second period started in a similar vein until Tyler Williams sent in a long diagonal onto the head of Kieran Wells and his looping header beat the keeper from 18 yards out in the 53rd minute.
3 minutes later Brad Wells doubled Frickley’s lead when he slotted home after a jinking run in the box.
The last half hour saw Taddy’s Des Amponsah put a dipping shot just over the bar and the home team’s Kieran Wells stung Davison-Hale’s palms. But in the main Frickley comfortably managed the closing minutes to take the 3 points.
Back to me:
It was good to see the boys bounce back from last Saturday & Tuesday – The Gaffer got a good response from them – & they sent the majority of the 184 crowd home happy
WEBMASTER MOTM – another good team performance. The defensive unit were strong again, especially Ben Bottomley who dominated his box & Brad Beatson. The returning Lee Frecks pulled all the strings in midfield – felt good to have him back. & The Ram Raids Twins did what they do
But I’m giving the Glitterball to Tyler – slotted in at left back but ended up playing as a wing back & linked up well with Joe Stacey – & he created the first goal
TWITTER POLL MOTM – Joe Stacey takes the vote, he was a constant threat all afternoon down the left hand side. Just behind him is Wells (K) & Wells (B) & then Ben Bottomley, Tyler also got votes. Thank you to everyone who voted
Here’s what Sax thought about it
Here’s the Prince Of Darkness
We are away to our old adversaries, Worksop Town, tomorrow afternoon, 3pm kick. It would be fantastic to see big numbers of Azzurri out in force
