Recap

Les Bleus signed off their 2019 away campaign in emphatic style, with a 3 zip away win at Chasetown.

The Juggernaut missed it’s gears a couple of times in the first half, but it was life in the fast lane all the way baby in the 2nd half.

The heavy pitch took a bit of getting used to & that seemed to unsettle our rhythm a little early doors, passes were either too heavy or didn’t travel. Having said that we still created some great chances for ourselves – Valentine put a great ball in for Margs but he shot well wide, then Margs broke & rounded the keeper but his shot was cleared for a corner by the covering defender. Then Vallers struck a free kick that deceived everyone but was well saved. The chance of the half came when the Chasetown keeper scuffed his clearance straight to Margs who got into the box & rounded the keeper once again & squared it to Haze who blazed wide. Would those missed chances come back to bite us like they did at Leek last Saturday………

Nah!

Frecks made a half time change, bringing on Sam Cable for Oli Valentine & it only took him 8 minutes to make his mark. He collected the ball & dinked it over the defence to Haze who dinked it over the keeper – a great goal & it was Jacobs 113th for the club.

Chasetown upped their game but the defence & midfield restricted them.

75 minutes gone, Jonny Margs breaks into the box & squares it to The Cable Guy & Sam stroked it into the onion bag (not you Jerry) as calm as you like. The Azzurri were in no danger from this point & the only question was would we score again?

Well yes, we would. On 88 minutes, Margs gets into the box (once again), decides to round the keeper (once again) but the keeper was having none of it & just chopped him down. Margs jumped up & stuck the penner away. 3 nil & some right scenes both on & off the pitch.

WEBMASTER MOTM – quite a few contenders again. The defensive unit were strong & Tom could almost have gone & done his Xmas shopping. However when the crosses came in, TJ was dominant in his area. Holli & Currie ran themselves into the ground on the heavy pitch & the home defence struggled to cope with Haze & Margs – & Sam when he came on. But I’m giving the Glitterball to Brad ‘The Beast’ Wells – he’s the sort of player you love playing for you & hate playing against you. The Turquoise Teapot battled all afternoon & is, in effect, 2 players in one. Well done sir

TWITTER POLL MOTM – backs up the above with Brad winning it comfortably, with Tom Davie in behind him, followed closely by Currie & Holli. Thanks to everyone for voting once again.

133 through the gate & I reckon about 25% of them were Blues fans – incredible turn out so close to Xmas. The Wiltshire Blues Supporters Club were in attendance too (love you Shane)
