Recap
All good things must pass
The Azzurri 2 month unbeaten run came to an end yesterday with a 2 nil defeat to high flying Leek.
It was very pet friendly at the ground; for the dog lovers we had 2 Scottish Terriers & a black Lab, for feline fans we had the neighbourhood ginger puss with us at half time & for the equestrian amongst us the ref had a mare
Same starting 11 as last Saturday with Tom Davie & Strictly Sherbs back in the squad & on the bench.
The first half was a great advert for football at our, & any, level. Frickley put in an excellent performance – Jake Currie had a shot well saved, Oli Valentine linked up well with Brad Wells down the left & put in a couple of good efforts & an excellent free kick that brought a good save out of the keeper & then a defence splitting pass set up Jonny Margs who was almost split in 2 by the defence in the box. I presume the ref was admiring our 4 legged friends as he missed it….
Down at the other end Tom J pulled off an excellent save from close range to ensure that the half time score was nil nil.
More of the same in the 2nd half – Margs 1 on 1 with the keeper, who did well, then Brad Wells set Margs up but he shot wide from close range. Then Haze had a shot cleared off the line & from the ensuing play Margs created a chance for himself but shot over.
As tends to happen, if you don’t take your chances against teams at the top it comes back to bite you & Leek took the lead from a corner & added a 2nd at the death as Frickley committed more & more players forwards.
A disappointing result but an excellent performance by the boys – unfortunately there aren’t any points for performances, but we deserved at least one.
WEBMASTER MOTM – despite losing, I can offer up plenty of candidates. Nathan Hotte had his best game for us so far & Toddy beside him was outstanding. Tyler & Oli Valentine were class as full backs & Tyler played the majority of the 2nd half as wing back. Holli & Currie have become an excellent midfield pairing allowing Jake Scott to go down the flanks. The front 3 were a threat all game & did everything but score. I’m going to give the award to Oli Valentine who has settled in remarkably well – you would think he’d been playing for us all his life. Well done sir.
TWITTER POLL MOTM – thanks again to everyone who voted. Todd Jordan took the award this time, followed closely by Holli & Tyler with Oli just behind them
303 through the gate with good numbers travelling to support the boys once again – thanks for your continued support

Next up (hopefully) is our Sheffield Cup game vs Stocksbridge at the Wezzie on Tuesday 17th December. See you there
