Frickley Athletic deeply regret to announce that assistant manager Blake Campbell has today informed the club that he will be stepping down from his role with immediate effect
Please see statement below from Blake regarding his decision:
‘After much consideration, I feel that it is now the right time for me to step down from my role as Assistant Manager at Frickley Athletic FC.
This has by no means been a decision which I have taken lightly. However, I feel that, given the positive outlook of where the club is at this point in time, in my absence I am extremely confident that the club will progress and prosper both on and off the pitch.
In a short space of time at the club we’ve been able to break a few records, share our ups and downs together, make a few marvellous memories, all whilst having a few laughs along the way.
I will miss seeing the Frickley faithful who turn out regardless of the weather nor the distance to support the lads. As well as our young supporters who can brighten your day even after the toughest of defeats.
I will miss the incredible volunteers who frequently inspire optimism irrespective of the results whilst welcoming anyone who visits the WezzieCanã and making them feel like family.
To the players, lads it has been a privilege and an honour to share this experience with you all. I’ve truly loved every minute of our time together – the good, the bad and the indifferent. I’ve been extremely lucky to work with such an honest, respectful and talented bunch of men.
I’d especially like to thank Pat who’s not only brought me into the club but has been someone I’ve enjoyed working with whilst being able to challenge ourselves doing what we love alongside our incredibly professional staff in Bails and Sarah.
On a footballing front, the work we’ve been able to do in the last 12 months has stabilised the club in both a sustainable and competitive nature.
None of which would have been possible without the trust and backing of the chairman and board who I cannot thank enough for the countless hours they put into making this club such a welcoming, supportive and close knit environment to work within.
This has allowed for Pat and I to build a young, talented, trustworthy and ambitious squad that now has the right balance of youth and experience.
I wish the club, players, supporters and management team all the best for the remainder of the season and for the seasons to come. #forzafrickley’
Manager Pat McGuire commented saying
‘It’s extremely disappointing for everyone that Blake is stepping down. Not only has he been a phenomenal support to me but has also enhanced the club in so many ways both on the field and off.
From helping to build this current squad, to the way the club’s social media has grown under his tutelage, details the countless hours and effort that Blake has given.
Blake has developed close relationships with the players who have benefitted from his detailed feedback and it will seem strange not having him around the place.
It’s been a privilege to work with him and I hope the opportunity arrises to work together again in the future. Best of luck Blake, you will be sorely missed by all of us and welcome back anytime to the Wezzie’
Everyone at the club is gutted that Blake will be leaving his role and can’t thank him enough for all of the efforts that he has put in since joining the club 9 months ago.
Not only has he played a massive part in our improvement on the pitch this season, he’s also been heavily involved with a number of aspects off the field as well, particularly with his work surrounding the clubs social media presence, improving the quality of the content that we post and also bringing back the clubs Instagram page.
Blake will be a huge loss to the club but we respect his decision and have nothing but our thanks and well wishes to give him. We wish Blake the best of luck for all of his future endeavours and he will always be welcome at Westfield Lane
Thanks again Blake, you’ll be missed!!
