I’ll try to make it sound like we were robbed!
No lack of effort from the boys, but perhaps the application of effort wasn’t all it might be.
B in for B as Jack Burton was back into the side, replacing Rieves Boocock who was on the bench. As was Elliott Wilson, a very late night signing on Friday. He is a forward who joins us from Gainsborough.
Right from the start Stamford were in our faces but the early chances came to Haze before the home team took a 2 goal lead.
Eventually a good chance ended up at Hollingsworths feet but he couldn’t convert & the half time score was 2 nil.
Definitely game over within a few minutes of the restart as Stamford made it 3 nil & added a 4th shortly after.
Haze scored from a free kick to get us off the mark – his 102nd for the club – before Stamford scored a 5th with the goal of the game.
So a bad day at the office, which would have been ever worse had it not been for a goalkeeping masterclass in the first half by Tom Jackson.
WEBMASTER MOTM – Tom Jackson, was extraordinary in the first half & god knows he had plenty to do
TWITTER POLL MOTM – backs up the above, Tom winning in with Haze 2nd & Sam Liversidge also polling. Thank you to everyone who voted.
259 through the gate with a good 40-50 following the Azzurri, an incredible turn out.
Next up we’re at home to Sheffield FC tomorrow night in the prestigious Integro Cup. We’re expecting a bumper crowd so don’t be later
