I hate this job at times……
With great sadness we have to inform you of the death of a lovely lovely man – Steve White passed away this morning.
I reckon he’s done everything at the Wezziecana – apart from playing – & he was given the honour of being one of our first Honorary Vice Presidents a couple of years back to mark everything he had done for the club.
Anyone who knows Steve will know that he hasn’t enjoyed the best of health in recent years but he took on leukemia twice & beat it home & away to get through to the next round. Sadly the bench put up the substitute board with his number on it & he’s had to leave the pitch for the final time. One thing is for sure, there will never be a substitute for Whitey.
I’ve spent many an hour in Bigfellas (where he spent time on both sides of the bar) having a jar & a jaw with Steve & I count myself as being privileged to have spent some 1 on 1 time with him.
We’ve lost some good ‘uns during lockdown – Jimmy Coleman, Dom Stones, Andy A & now Steve – I think we’ve all had enough now. 2020, if you want to piss off that would be great.
Sleep well Whitey & stay out of them skips!!!!!
