The Azzurri are delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfield player Jack Wightwick. Jack has played under Frecks before at Spalding & is highly rated by The Gaffer. He also has experience at Boston Town (where he was a prolific scorer), Grantham & most recently Lincoln United.
The Gaffer said “I had Jack at Spalding and he will add so much quality. He’ll get fans off their seats and provide the guile our front players need to score goals. Big asset. Skillful, has quick feet and unlocks doors”
I interviewed Jack last night – here’s what he had to say:
Me – tell us a bit about yourself – what position you play, your style of play etc
JW – 24 years old, London born, grew up in Spain – my style of play shows that, very technical, low centre of gravity, close ball control. I like to play in the number 10 role, but can play anywhere other than defence!
Me – how did the phone call with Frecks go when he called to see if you wanted to sign up
JW – the call went well, I’ve played for Frecks before, he knows what he’ll get from me and I know what I’ll get from him. He’s a top gaffer, he’s a winner and I love to win, so it was an easy decision in the end.
Me – what are your interests outside football
JW – more sport, I play cricket in the summer and golf when I’m not playing cricket. If I’m not playing sport, I’m watching it, if I’m not watching it I’ll be at the pub getting drunk with my mates!
Me – possibly a September start, you looking forward to the hard graft of pre-season????
JW – I’m looking forward to being outside again, meeting the lads & kicking a football around. Not so sure about enjoying the fitness element of it but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
