It’s that wonderful time of the year to celebrate that very special thing in all our lives. Yes, it’s Non League Day 2023 and we’ve got a big game lined up for you, as we welcome Hallam FC to the Wezzie in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
With only 4 games to go until the end of the season, the Azzuri currently find themselves 7 points clear of the bottom two following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat away at Albion Sports. So it’s possible that a victory tomorrow and results going our way could guarantee our league status for another season!!
But it won’t be an easy one as one of the league’s form teams in Hallam stand in our way. Hallam are currently 6th in the league table and are on a 10 game unbeaten run, having won 8 games in that time including against champions elect North Ferriby. Their last result was a 4-1 win away at Silsden on Tuesday night and there are plenty of ex-Frickley players in that side who’ll be keen to make an impact.
And it was Hallam who came out on top in the reverse fixture back in November, with the home side coming away 3-1 winners on a disappointing day for the Blues. Szymon Czubik got the consolation goal in the game.
So why not come along and experience a riveting Yorkshire Derby in celebration of Non League Day? Admittance for this game is ‘Pay what you Like’ so pay as much or as little as you like to get in and enjoy the game. Hopefully we can get a good crowd in!!
We would like to thank our match sponsor for tomorrow’s game, RCP21 Community Interest Company. Your support is very much appreciated!!
We’ll also be welcoming a new mascot for tomorrow, 6 year old Charlie Oldroyd will be leading the boys out. Hope you have a great day Charlie!!
There will also be a minutes silence prior to the game in memory of lifelong supporters Malcolm Gray and Jim Barber who passed away recently
There will also be a bucket collection going round tomorrow to raise money for the Coppice France Residential being organised by Chris Medwell. Chris is organising a trip to take 20 post 16 students with severe disabilities and autism on a once in a lifetime residential to France so it’s a fantastic cause!! Please give what you can
Finally, voting will be open tomorrow for Supporter’s Player of the Season, with the winner being announced before the final game of the season against Goole in two weeks time. Slips will be available from the Half Time Draw / Programme stand so come and get your votes in
Phew, that was a lot of updates. But the bottom line is, it’s Non League Day and it’s a massive game, so get yourselves down to the Wezzie and roar the boys onto 3 points!!
