The Blues take a break from league action as we embark on our final cup campaign of the season with a trip to local rivals Hemsworth Miners Welfare in the Second Round of the Sheffield Senior Cup, kick off is at 7:45pm
Blues News
What a difference a fortnight makes as the interim management team of Jack Varley and Lewis Binns made it 2 wins out of 2 with a solid 3-1 victory over Knaresborough Town at the weekend.
Varley himself was on the score sheet, slotting away from the spot after Jack Cawthorn’s header had opened the scoring in the First Half. Knaresborough pulled one back with 10 minutes to go but the Blues rode out the storm and Marcel Chipamaunga made it 2 from 2 for him to secure another much needed 3 points.
So attention turns away from the league to the Sheffield Senior Cup, the only cup competition in which the Blues remain for this season. It was a quarter final exit last season with the Blues losing 2-0 to NPL side Stocksbridge Park Steels after victories in the previous rounds over Dodworth Miners Welfare and Nostell Miners Welfare.

Our Opponents
It’s a very short trip for the Blues on Wednesday night as we head to local rivals Hemsworth Miners Welfare. Hemsworth play their football in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League following relegation from the NCEL at the end of the 2022/23 season.
They have had a strong start to the season, currently sitting 2nd in the league table, having only lost 2 of their opening 10 games so will still provide a tough test for the Blues and will certainly be up for the occasion.
Like the Blues, this is their first Sheffield Cup tie of the season after both sides got a bye through the First Round and went straight through into the draw for the second round.

Previous Meetings
The two sides last met during the 2022/23 league campaign, with each side winning their respective home fixture. Hemsworth were 2-1 winners at the start of the season but Frickley were able to reverse the result with a 3-0 victory over the festive period.
