It’s a return to league action for the Blues as we head for our first away league fixture of the season with a trip to Rossington Main in the NCEL, kick off is at 7:45pm
Blues News
It was disappointment for Frickley on Saturday as our FA Cup campaign came to an end with a 2-0 defeat away at fellow NCEL Premier side Thackley.
It was an even game with the Blues creating plenty of good chances but unable to convert with Thackley clinical at the other end. There were certainly positives from the game to take into the upcoming league matches.
The result leaves Frickley still winless after the opening 2 games of the name season, as Saturday’s defeat followed the 4-2 defeat to Pickering in the opening league fixture.
It was the opening away game that saw a first win in the league last season, a 4-2 win against Tadcaster Albion which is the match that follows the Rossington game. So hopefully that can be an omen to get the season up and running.

Our Opponent
Rossington start their 2nd season of Step 5 football with high hopes following a 4th place finish and play off disappointment last time out. It took a penalty shoot out defeat to Garforth last season to prevent them from recording back to back promotions and many expect to see them push at the top once again this campaign.
It’s a team full of NPL and NCEL experience embodied in star man Ross Hannah who will be looking to the sharp end of the Golden Boot standings come season end. There are plenty of familiar faces in their ranks too with Bradley Grayson, Liam King, Cameron Hough and more all previously playing for the Blues, plus the addition of Brandon Murillo from last seasons squad to add to it.
However, they are also looking for a first competitive win of the season as a 2-2 draw against Eccleshill in the league opener was followed by a 3-0 defeat in the FA Cup against AFC Mansfield on Saturday so they will also be desperate for a first win on Tuesday night.

Previous Meetings
Last season was the first time that Frickley and Rossington had played in the same league and it was one win each in the two games, with away victories in both matches. It was a 1-0 win for Frickley at Rossington in November courtesy of a Lloyd Smith goal, and a reverse 1-0 at Westfield Lane back in March. Will we see the tie broken on Tuesday night?
