Match Preview – Tuesday 13th January 2026

The Blues are hopefully back at the Wezzie as we finally look for the first football of 2026 with an NCEL Quarter Final tie against Liversedge, kick off is at 7:45pm
Looking back to the last game, after a very strong December from the Frickley boys, 2025 did end on a slight down note with a 3-2 home defeat to Penistone Church. The Blues struggled to really get going in the game but kept themselves in a shout of a point through goals from Will Jenkinson and Tom Alngohuro but sadly wasn’t meant to be as the unbeaten run came to an end.
The league cup run so far ties our previous best in the competition, having previously reached the quarter finals in the 2023/24 season. It was a 2-0 home victory against Golcar United courtesy of a Josh Lindley double that secured the Blues passage to this stage this time around.
It will be a tough task tomorrow though against league leaders Liversedge. Sedge are 8 points clear at the top of the league, with 2 games in hand on 2nd place Beverley for good measure. They are currently on a 21 game unbeaten run which stretches back to a 2-1 defeat against Handsworth on 6th August, their only defeat of the season so far. Last time out, they played a thriller with Horbury Town, coming off 4-3 winners.
Their form hasn’t dropped in the league cup either, winning their second round tie 5-0 against Maltby Main before a third round 3-2 win away at Pickering Town.
The Blues are one of the few teams to take points of Sedge this season however, with the previous league fixture ending in a 0-0 draw at Westfield Lane back in September. Football is a strange game so you just never know what might happen tomorrow.
So pray for dey weather, wrap up warm and get down to the Wezzie to back the Blues. Admission prices are below:
