After a run of 6 straight defeats, the Blues were able to stop the rot last time out with a much improved 0-0 draw against Eccleshill United. It was a close game but the lads looked solid and just didn’t get the run of the ball to snatch a winner that would have been deserved based on the showing.
The point leaves Frickley in 18th in the NCEL table but finally moves us off the 25 point mark and onto 26. It was also another point gained on the drop zone below as we look to push towards securing our NCEL premier status for next season.

Saturday sees us welcome a play off chasing Handsworth to Westfield Lane. The Ambers start the weekend in 7th place in the NCEL table, 5 points outside the playoff places so still with a chance of making a late surge.
After 3 games without a win, they bounced back in midweek with a hard fought 2-1 win away at Barton thanks to second half goals from Fernando Tavares and Harry Jessop.

Previous Meetings
It was Handsworth who came out on top when the two sides met back in October courtesy of a 2-1 victory at Oliver’s Mount.
The Ambers took the lead in the first half through Scott Ruthven and had looked to withstand a lot of second half pressure from the Blues to grind out a 1-0 win until debutant Jack Cawthorn powered in a header in stoppage time which looked to earn the Blues a point.
However, there was still time for a sting in the tail for the Blues as, almost straight from kick off, Handsworth went down the end and Ruthven took advantage of some questionable goalkeeping to put the home side back in front.

The club asks everyone to take extra care when parking in the areas around the ground as there have been a number of incidents in recent weeks of people picking up damage on the uneven terrain so please be mindful if you’re travelling to the game
Other than that, bar, snack bar and all the other amenities will be available as normal so get yourselves down to the Wezzie and cheer on the boys
