It’s another away day for your Boys in Blue as we head to Bottesford Town for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

After back to back league defeats against Campion and Penistone, the Blues bounced back with a hard fought away point in midweek with a 1-1 draw at Barton Town.

Rob Guilfoyle gave the Blues the lead in a first half which they completely dominated. But the momentum swung in the second half with Barton getting a deserved equaliser 10 minutes after half time.

Again, it’s another match with more than enough opportunities to put the game to bed in the first half but was instead left open and allowed the opposition a way back in. However, the signs in that First Half were very positive and the Blues played some lovely stuff so plenty to take into this weekend’s fixture.

The point saw the Blues remain 12th in the early NCEL table on 8 points from the opening 7 matches so overall not a bad start to the new campaign.

Form (Last 5) – WWLLD

League Standing – P7, W2, D2, L3, Pts 8, Pos 12th

Our Opponents

Our opponents for the next NCEL fixture is Bottesford Town who have had a similar start to the new campaign as the Blues, with 7 points from their opening 6 matches seeing them sit 15th in the league table.

They have, however, enjoyed a very good run in the FA Cup and still remain in the competition following a 1-0 win against Loughborough Students in the First Qualifying Round, with a trip to Bromsgrove Sporting awaiting them in the next round.

Striker Aristides Cunha currently leads the NCEL Top Goalscorer standings with 11 goals in all competitions so far this season so will be a big threat to the Blues back line throughout the encounter which takes place on the newly installed 3G pitch at the Barrett Steel Stadium.

Bottesford also played in midweek, falling to a 3-2 home defeat to Silsden so will be looking to bounce back with a strong home performance tomorrow to get back to winning ways.
