Match Preview – Saturday 7th March 2026

The Blues are back in action at the Wezzie as we welcome high flying Barton Town for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

Frickley come into this one after a 2-0 away defeat to league leaders Liversedge on Tuesday night. Despite the scoreline, it was a performance full of positives with the Blues frustrating the strongest team in the NCEL this season for over an hour and posing a threat going forward. It was a performance that, against weaker opposition, will yield results so plenty to take away.

It leaves the Blues sat in 11th in the NCEL Premier Division table with 38 points, still with a 10 pointer cushion to the bottom 2 with crucially a number of other teams in between. A top 10 finish does remain a possibility and would comfortably yield our strongest ever finish in the NCEL and fantastic progress from last season.

It will be another tough fixture this weekend though as Barton Town are the visitors to the Wezzie. The Swans still have it all to play for, currently sitting 4th and inside the playoff places, 4 points clear of Tadcaster in 6th. Their form has been a bit patchy in recent weeks though, with 3 wins and 3 defeats in their last 6. It has been back to back wins though in the last 2, with a 3-2 victory over Penistone Church their latest on Tuesday night

They are a side who will be looking to do the double over the Blues after they picked up a 1-0 victory at the Easy Buy Stadium back in August. Lewis Stephens got the only goal in a very tight game that could have gone either way. Hopefully another close contest to follow tomorrow
