Our first game of 2025 sees us return to Westfield Lane as we welcome Barton Town for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

The Blues were sadly unable to finish 2024 on a high note as it became 3 straight defeats in a row following last weeks 2-0 defeat against play off chasing Albion Sports.

However, the Blues were well in the game for large periods and ran the home side close until the final 10 minutes when the second goal killed the contest. It’s another performance that wasn’t rewarded with points but they can’t be far away if we continue at the current levels

Last weekend’s results saw Frickley remain in 15th place in the NCEL Premier table on 25 points though a gap has started to open up to the sides above. But with plenty of home fixtures against the sides in and around the Blues in the new year, there remain plenty of opportunities to start pushing forward again.

Form (Last 5) – LWLLL

League Standing – P25, W7, D4, L14, Pts 25, Pos 15th

Our Opponents

Our first opponents of 2025 will be Barton Town who travel to the Wezzie for their first away game following the devastating news of the passing of their goalkeeper James Hitchcock just before Christmas. James was also an ex Blue so it will certainly be an emotional occasion at the Wezzie this weekend.

The Swans start the weekend in 13th place after a 2-0 victory last time out against Eccleshill United, their first victory after a 5 game winless run stretching back to the start of November, and they will be looking to make it back to back victories on Saturday.

They have strengthened their squad in midweek with the arrivals of Tyler Edwards from NPL side Grimsby Borough as well as striker Olly Baldwin from fellow NCEL side Beverley Town so will certainly pose a tough test for the start of 2025

Form (Last 5) – LLLDW

League Standing – P21, W7, D9, L5, Pts 30, Pos 13th

Previous Meetings

The two sides met at the Easy Buy Stadium back at the start of December and played out a very entertaining 1-1 draw.

It was a game of two halfs as the Blues dominated the First and took a deserved lead through a Rob Guilfoyle strike. But the Swans were much stronger second half and levelled it up through Elliot Broughton to see the points shared between the two sides.
