The first month of the season comes to a close with another NCEL fixture to enjoy at Westfield Lane. The visitors this time are Penistone Church, kick off is at 3:00pm

After a 90th minute winner the week prior, the Blues were on the other end last week as Campion left it late to snatch all 3 points and come away from Westfield Lane as the victors.
It was another very close game where the Blues had dominant spells in the game but were unable to capitalise whilst on top. It’s been the story of the majority of games so far this season and you can’t help but feel frustrated that more points should be on the board than the 7 that currently are.
However, it has been a very difficult start to the season with fixtures against the 3 playoff sides from last season that didn’t get promoted as well as an inform Tadcaster side so their are significant positive for this Blues side that are still early days in development.
Following results in midweek, the Blues have dropped to 9th in the early league standings but still remain in a strong position heading into a busy September of fixtures.

Our Opponents
The run gets no easier though as 3 of last seasons top 5 become 4 of last seasons top 6 with the visit of Penistone Church to the Wezzie. Church went on a fantastic run at the end of last campaign to just miss out on the playoffs towards the end and will be looking to go one better this campaign.
They have made a strong start to the new campaign with 4 wins from their opening 6 matches that see them sit 2nd in the league table on 12 points. Their winning run did come to an end last week however when they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Goole behind closed doors. So expect plenty of support and a response from them going into this game.

Previous Meetings
Penistone recorded a league double over Frickley last season with a 2-0 win at Penistone in October being followed by a 4-1 win at Westfield Lane later in the season. The Blues have beaten Penistone at Westfield Lane previously however, with a 4-2 victory over Church in the league the previous season.
