It was another disappointing evening for the Blues on Tuesday night following a 3-0 defeat at home to Tadcaster Albion.

Frickley were well in the game and creating some good opportunities until the first Tadcaster goal was scored, at which point the away side grew stronger and we never really looked like getting back into the game.

However, it’s still very early days and this new look Frickley side is still developing and should only get stronger as the season progresses. And the fixtures are coming thick and fast right now so always an opportunity to bounce back.

The defeat saw the Blues drop to 10th in the NCEL table, still on 6 points from the opening 5 games but still with an opportunity to push forward as teams look to establish themselves in the new campaign.

Our Opponents

It’s another tough test for the Blues though as we head to Penistone Church. Church have once again started the campaign strongly, having collected 14 points from 6 games to see themselves sit 2nd in the NCEL table.

They currently remain unbeaten in the league at the start of this campaign, picking up a 4-2 win over Horbury Town in their last fixture on Tuesday night. They will be looking for another strong result tomorrow and the Blues will need to be at their best to take anything from the game

Previous Meetings

Church recorded a double over the Blues in the league last season, recording a 4-2 victory at Westfield Lane in August before ending the season in April with a 7-2 win at the Parker Roofing Memorial Ground.

Church have not been a good opponent for Frickley during our time in the NCEL, with Church winning all but one encounter between the two sides, that one being the first meeting, a 4-2 victory at Westfield Lane during the 2022/23 season.

Hopefully tomorrow can see the Blues get a monkey off their back and find a positive result.
