The Blues will be looking to bounce back from last week’s horrors by producing some fireworks as October turns into November, with a visit to Winterton Rangers in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
Blues News
The Blues head into the weekend looking to put the disappointment of last week’s 6-0 defeat to Hallam behind them. A largely positive first half in which the Blues competed well faded into a defensive capitulation in the second half which saw the Countrymen run out comfortable winners.
The result was a rude awakening following back to back league victories against Goole and Knaresborough, and was also the first league fixture this season in which the Blues have failed to score. Still time to be positive and look forward.
And it’s been a positive news week following the announcement earlier of the appointment of Tom Claisse as the new First Team manager. He’ll be eagerly watching from the sidelines tomorrow as Jack Varley and Lewis Binns leads the side on the pitch for one last time.
He comes in with the Blues dropping back down to 17th in the NCEL Premier following results in midweek. However, the middle of the table remains incredibly close with only 3 points separating 7th and 17th so just one win can massively improve the league standing.

Our Opponents
We head to Winterton Rangers for our next NCEL fixture. Rangers were relegated back into the NCEL after a single season in the NPL and have struggled for form so far this term, currently sitting 19th in the league table.
They are without a win in their last 5 matches in all competitions and were also on the back of a 6-0 defeat last time out at the hands of high flying Golcar United. They will be in desperate search for points on Saturday so will prove a tough ask for the Blues despite the league position.
There’s plenty of shared interest between the two sides with Jack Varley, Jack Holden and Luke Williams all previously having played for Rangers within the current Blues squad.

Previous Meetings
The Blues and Rangers last met during the 2022/23 season with Rangers coming out on top in all 3 of the fixtures played that season. A league and league cup tie at Westfield Lane both finished 3-1 to the visitors whilst they recorded a 4-0 victory on home turf during the reverse league fixture.
