Frickley go in search of a 3rd win in succession in the NCEL but face another tough test as Campion AFC are the visitors to Westfield Lane for our latest fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm
Blues News
It wasn’t pretty but the Blues left it late last Saturday to secure a massive 3 points against Albion Sports with a 2-1 victory. Zavier Elkin Sheppard with the all important goal deep into stoppage time after Harley McCormack had originally given the Blues the lead before being pegged back by the visitors.
Truth be told, it wasn’t a great game to watch with Albion going down to 10 men inside 15 minutes following 2 quick bookings for Nathan Cartman. This seemed to galvanise the visitors and throw the Blues off their stride as they struggled to play against the 10 men with the visitors always looking dangerous on the counter.
However, if the victory at Tadcaster earlier in the week was all down to a quality team performance and some lovely football, this one came down to grit and character with the boys finding a way to get the 3 points without playing particularly well which bodes well going forward.
The result was our first victory over Albion Sports and extends us to a 3 game unbeaten run in the league after losing the first 2 games in league and cup. Given we’ve played 2 of last season’s play off sides in that time, it’s been a really positive run and hopefully we can keep that going tomorrow.

Our Opponents
The run doesn’t get any easier though as we welcome last year’s NCEL Premier runners up Campion to Westfield Lane. Campion were the only serious contender to champions Emley last year before falling short in the playoffs, losing 2-0 to Albion Sports in the semi finals.
They have retained the majority of last season’s squad with a couple of notable additions including prolific goal scorer Zak Khan and former Blue Lloyd Smith who made the switch in the summer.
It’s been a relative slow start league wise for Campion, losing to both Silsden and Golcar though they did record wins over Parkgate and AFC Liverpool in the FA Cup. They got their first points in the league in midweek with a 3-1 victory over Knaresborough Town.
