Match Preview – Saturday 22nd November 2025

The Blues are back on the road for our latest NCEL encounter as we head to Knaresborough Town looking to continue our recent good form, kick off is at 3:00pm

It may have ended in penalty heartbreak on Tuesday night for the Blues with our Sheffield Senior Cup campaign coming to an end against Rossington Main, but it was another fixture which saw the lads remain u beaten in regulation time, extending the run to 6 games.

And it was a really strong response from the lads after a slow first half, with second half goals from Lewis Binns and Lucas Robinson seeing Frickley overturn a 2-0 deficit to finish the game 2-2 before Rosso just got the upper hand in a crazy coin flip of a shootout 7-6 after 22 spot kicks

Attention then returns to the NCEL, where we are now past the half way stage of the 2025/26 season. The Blues come into the weekend in 13th place in the table with 22 points from the opening half of the campaign and hopefully looking to climb the table throughout the second half of the season.

The second half starts with a trip to Knaresborough Town. Knaresborough start the weekend one place below the Blues in 14th place, 2 points back. After a bright start to the season, their form has dropped off in recent weeks, with a 1-1 draw against Wombwell Town last time out only their second point in their last 6 league games

In fact, you have to go back to 9th September for the last time they won a league game, which was the 3-0 victory against the Blues at Westfield Lane. Goals from Slater Barnes, Ben Gelder and Jack Dyche secured the points for Knaresborough that night and they will be looking to get back to winning ways on home soil tomorrow.

It’s a ground where the Blues have struggled in the past though, with Knaresborough winning every fixture at Mande Lane between the two sides. However, the victory at Westfield Lane earlier in the season was a first for Knaresborough so time for us to flip the form book as well!!
