Just 6 games remain for the Blues in the 24/25 season and the start of March sees us back on the road as we head to Knaresborough Town in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

The Blues were unable to round out February unbeaten as they fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bottesford Town on Tuesday night. It certainly wasn’t one of the Blues’ better performances and one that will need to be improved on if there is to be a change of result tomorrow.

However, with Winterton not playing and Goole falling to defeat against Silsden, the picture at the bottom remains the same as it did prior to kick off. The Blues remain 18th in the NCEL table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone below as the games continue to tick down. A victory tomorrow would not secure safety but would give the Blues a great opportunity to do so when we host Winterton in a weeks time.

Form (Last 5) – LDWDL

League Standing – P32, W8, D6, L18, Pts 30, Pos 18th

Our Opponents

It will be a tough task tomorrow though as the Blues head to a much improved Knaresborough Town side. Knaresborough looked to be set for a relegation battle themselves a few weeks ago but have found form at the right time with a run of only 2 defeats in their last 10 games seeing them rise to 12th in the NCEL table.

They were victorious in midweek with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tadcaster Albion, and they will have a big say in how the battle at the bottom plays out with both Goole and Winterton also to play in their closing fixtures.

Manse Lane has not been a happy hunting ground for the Blues, having lost on each of our previous visits to the ground. This is despite not losing any of the fixtures against Knaresborough at Westfield Lane. Tomorrow would be a perfect time to break to hoodoo

Previous Meeting

In keeping with the form between the two sides at Westfield Lane, the Blues were victorious when the two sides met back in October courtesy of a 3-1 win.

Jack Cawthorn put the Blues in front in the first half with a set piece header before Jack Varley doubled the advantage from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Dan McDaid pulled one back for the visitors with 10 minutes remaining but, whilst the visitors pushed for the equaliser, Frickley caught them on the counter and Marcel Chipamaunga secured the 3 points late on in the encounter.
