8 games to go and the next one to tick off is a tough trip to high flying Golcar United for our latest NCEL fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

It’s been a while but Frickley were finally able to chalk up another in the win column in dramatic style courtesy of Keanan Manning’s late winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Handsworth.

Following the resolute draw against Eccleshill the week before, it was reassuring to see the Blues build on that performance and go that extra step further to get the goals to secure the 3 points which could prove massive in the fight at the bottom.

The victory saw the Blues remain 18th in the NCEL table but increased to gap over the relegation zone behind to 12 points with games starting to run out for the sides below. Hopefully another positive result tomorrow can see us continue to pull away from the drop and start climbing a few places up the table.

Form (Last 5) – LLLDW

League Standing – P30, W8, D5, L17, Pts 29, Pos 18th

Our Opponents

It will be a tough ask to continue the resurgence this week as the Blues travel to high flying Golcar United. Golcar start the day as the closest challengers to leaders Silsden in 2nd place.

However, their form has been a bit iffy in recent weeks which has seen them drop 10 points off the leaders and into the clutches of the chasing playoff pack behind them.

They’ve only one 1 game in their last 7 league matches including somewhat surprise defeats to Bottesford and a 2-1 defeat to Eccleshill last time out. So they will be desperate to get back to winning ways and will prove a very difficult task for the Blues

Form (Last 5) – WLLWL

League Standing – P28, W17, D2, L9, Pts 53, Pos 2nd

Previous Meeting

Golcar were victorious in the reverse fixture at Westfield Lane as they ran out 4-2 winners in what proved to be James Baxendale’s last game in charge.

It looked like being a very comfortable afternoon for the away side as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes courtesy of goals from Keegan Hartley and a Callum Percy brace.

But Frickley fought back in the second half with goals from Jack Varley and Jamie Tomlinson closing the gap before Alfie Wilkinson sealed the victory late on as the Blues pushed for an equaliser.
