Frickley are back in home league action after back to back away games as the Blues welcome Beverley Town to Westfield Lane in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

After the disappointment of the back to back home defeats against Campion and Penistone, the Blues backed up their solid 1-1 draw away at Barton with an exhilarating 5-3 victory away at Bottesford last time out.

It was one of those crazy matches that live long in the memory as attacks certainly stole the show. Thankfully, it was the Blues front line that proved that bit more potent as a Rob Guilfoyle brace, a Jack Varley strike and an own goal had edged Frickley in front before Jamie Tomlinson scored his first goal for the Blues in stoppage time to secure the 3 points.

The victory propelled the Blues back into the top half of the early NCEL table as they now sit just outside the playoffs in 7th on 11 points after 8 games played, a solid start to the new campaign. However, it has been performances and results away from home that have caught the eye so far, so a strong performance and result on home soil tomorrow would be well timed!!

Form (Last 5) – WLLDW

Our Opponents

Our visitors to the Wezzie this week are Beverley Town who are one of last seasons promoted sides from the NCEL Division 1. They finished 2nd in Division 1 last season and were ultimately promoted through the playoffs following a penalty shoot out victory over Shirebrook Town.

However, they have struggled the carry their momentum into the new campaign, finding themselves down in 19th in the early NCEL standings on 4 points, though having played 2 games less than the Blues. They were the only winless side in the division prior to a 2-1 victory over Golcar United in midweek that saw them rise from the foot of the table.

There previous results have been close though in a lot of games suggesting they may have been unlucky not to have more points at this stage so will certainly prove a tough test for the Blues as they look to build on the solid performance in midweek

Form (Last 5) – LWDLW

League Standing – P6, W1, D1, L4, Pts 4, Pos 19th
